Information : Countermeasure for AIS trouble
To: Our valued customers
We appreciate always your favorable patronage of JRC products.
We have received the status that our AIS products (JHS-180, JHS-182) become to be in trouble, stating that the status of the other vessels is displayed fewer than the actual number of vessels on the display of the own vessel's AIS, and/or VTS/AIS base stations become to be in trouble to get the vessel's AIS data. The vessel gets this happening after passing through Straits of Malacca.
Our survey shows the trouble cause that is some illegal station transmitting the power in channel 70 DSC for the period from this May to October in Straits of Malacca.
To recover from this trouble, rebooting (power OFF/ON) the AIS returns to normal operation. Please be advised to turn OFF the power using "pass word" of your AIS, and ON again in accordance with the "Power OFF / ON procedures" attached.
As a precaution, we prepare the software not to accept the illegal broadcast like the above, and we will update the AIS software.
Thank you very much for your cooperation.
