Multi-system UE* Tester Supporting 3.5 Generation on Sale in July 2006*UE: User Equipment

Japan Radio Co., Ltd. (Headquartered in Tokyo), referred to hereafter as JRC, announces a 3.5 Generation Multi-System UE Tester. This tester is designed to support the latest mobile communication technologies such as HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) for W-CDMA, EDGE (Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution), and Handover from W-CDMA to GSM all built into one compact and feature-rich platform in the current Multi-system UE Tester NJZ-2000 series. This low cost, high performance tester is scheduled for release in July 2006 by our sales network.

[Background]

Production lines for Mobile Communications terminal Manufacturers and Service Centers for repair are facing difficulties finding quick, cost-effective methods of evaluation of new functions as phone functions are constantly expand to include such features as high-speed data service and other complicated operations. Also, Mobile communications providers are requesting equivalent environments to evaluate new technologies.

JRC has developed the essential functions for the evaluation of 3.5 Generation mobile terminals such as HSDPA Technology for W-CDMA, EDGE, and Handover from W-CDMA to GSM in addition to the already developed functions, which are also currently available for the NJZ-2000 series Multi-System UE Tester. The current version of the NJZ-2000, which has already supported W-CDMA and GSM for 3rd Generation Communications has been built upon a modular platform and is expandable to other standards to allow for an economical initial investment and a high ROI.

Other features included are the adoption of the universal standard OS and system bus for multi-band wireless units and software modems. The NJZ-2000 can be programmed to support a wide variety of applications and its capabilities include user programmable automatic testing and accurate manual testing making it a perfect system for Production lines for Mobile Communications Terminal Manufacturers and repair centers.

Therefore, by adding these 3.5 Generation functions to the NJZ-2000 series, this low cost, feature-rich, Multi-System UE tester will be the best solution for quick, cost-effective evaluation of such advanced 3.5G functions such as HSDPA, EDGE, and Handover on easy operations.
