Japan Radio Co., Ltd. (JRC) will participate in “Jammertest 2026,” hosted by the Norwegian authorities*1 from September 14 to 18, 2026, to conduct demonstration tests of the anti-spoofing functions equipped on JRC’s GNSS compass “JLR-41.” Through these tests, JRC will verify the effectiveness of these functions and respond to the growing global demand for countermeasures against GNSS jamming and spoofing.
GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) has become an essential infrastructure technology across a wide range of fields, including maritime and aviation transportation, land mobility, and critical infrastructure. At the same time, threats such as jamming*2 and spoofing*3 have recently become major international concerns, and strengthening countermeasures is an urgent issue from the perspective of safe navigation and safe operation.
Jammertest is one of the world’s largest open test events for assessing the resilience of PNT (Position, Navigation and Timing) systems and equipment under GNSS jamming and spoofing conditions. Since 2022, it has been held on Andøya Island in northern Norway. Thanks to the local geography, a naturally shielded environment is formed, enabling strong radio interference to be conducted safely and on a large scale.
The event provides a highly valuable test environment and is recognized internationally as a unique interference testing opportunity. This will be JRC’s second participation, following its first in 2023.
To counter the threats of jamming and spoofing, JRC has developed anti-spoofing functions that highly detect anomalies in GNSS signals and distinguish spoofing. JRC will bring its GNSS compass “JLR-41,” equipped with these functions, to “Jammertest 2026” to verify their effectiveness through real-world testing under various jamming and spoofing scenarios and to conduct a multifaceted evaluation.

Based on the results of these tests, JRC will further enhance its anti-spoofing technologies and improve reliability, thereby providing customers with safer and more secure navigation solutions.

The Norwegian Public Roads Administration (NPRA) leads the event, which is jointly operated by multiple organizations, including the Norwegian Communications Authority (Nkom), the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI), Justervesenet (JV – the national metrology institute), the Norwegian Space Agency (NoSA), the Norwegian Mapping Authority (NMA), the airport operator Avinor, and the test operator Testnor.
