The world's first "S-band/solid state meteorological RADAR" is supplied to PAGASA (Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Service Administration) in the Philippines.
This was the world's first all solid state S-band Doppler meteorological RADAR. The transmitter of the RADAR system was immobilized to realize high reliability and high movement stability for long periods. Compared with the conventional RADARs, the S-band/solid state meteorological RADAR improved safety, reduced maintenance burdens, and saved resources, electric power, and space and weight.
