Acoustic streaming effects for SH-SAW immunosensors

- Technical papers -

POCT (Point of Care Test), which is a diagnostic test at or near the patient, requires rapidly testing and higher sensitivity detection. This paper describes rapidly detection of a shear horizontal surface acoustic wave (SH-SAW) immunosensor which utilizes a liquid agitation using Rayleigh surface acoustic wave (R-SAW) for POCT. SH-SAWs and R-SAWs can be effectively generated at an interdigital transducer (IDT) with different frequencies on the X-cut 148-Y LiTaO3 substrate. The SH-SAW is used for sensing. The SAW delay-line, which is designed at 100 MHz in SH-SAW, has a propagation area covered with antigens of human serum albumin (HSA) between transmitting and receiving IDTs. The immunoreactions caused by antigen-antibody binding events on the surface of the delay-line are investigated by the velocity changes of the SH-SAWs for sensing with and without an R-SAW assist. As a result, it is confirmed that the SH-SAW velocity changes due to antigen-antibody reactions can be dramatically improved by the R-SAW agitation assist.

Research and Development of Vital Sensing Radars

- Technical papers -

A breathing and heart rate human monitoring system is getting popular due to aging society. In addition, with the increase in the number of pets raised due to the progress of nuclear families and declining birthrate, it becomes an issue to alleviate the burden on animal medical personnel. Since the monitoring system by radar is remote and non-contact, the burden on subjects and medical staff is low, however, there is a problem of interference rejection. In the conventional radar with a single receiver configuration, the interference is frequency separated by the band limiting filter, but since it might also remove a part of necessary information, a stable performance was not obtained. In this study, JRC has solved the above problem by autocorrelation based method, and made it possible to monitor breath and heartbeat stably.

Development of Navigation support equipment J-Marine NeCST

- Technical papers -

On a large merchant ship, the installation of the electronic chart display and information system (ECDIS) has been required since 2012 in stages. Since ECDIS is largely different from usual paper charts, the efficiency of navigation planning and briefing are future issues. J-Marine NeCST (hereinafter called NeCST pronouncing 'NEXT') described in this article solves the problem by inheriting the convenience of the paper chart. Also, it realizes the optimum navigation plan in cooperation with various systems, including meteorological / oceanic prediction systems. In addition, the various information accumulated for each ship is shared quickly and accurately between ships and between ship and land. It is the device that has never existed for the purpose of contributing to the efficiency of operation of the ship by gathering such information.

Development of High Communication Capacity Vehicle-Mounted Earth Station with Flat Panel Antenna

- Technical papers -

The satellite communications are used in disaster prevention, broadcasting, BCP, mobile backhaul, etc. regardless of domestic and foreign countries. In order to respond widely to the demands of these markets, JRC has developed a vehicle-mounted earth station with a Ku band flat panel antenna which is capable of high capacity transmission than ever and has high versatility and mobility. It has a high power amplifier and a satellite capture receiver, as well as an interface which can connect not only to a modem manufactured by oneself but also to a commercially available third-party modem. Furthermore, it has been improved convenience and mobility by strengthening automatic satellite capture, fluctuation correction, and inclination correction functions. Since JRC has realized a large capacity data transmission more than twice as much as the conventional model by developing this equipment, it has become to be able to respond to the demands of a wide range of markets such as 4K / 8K video transmission and 5G mobile backhaul.

Construction of Traffic Central Station System

- Technical papers -

Expressway road traffic control tasks are aimed for securing of safe and smooth traffic, and prompt information supply to road users is demanded. This time JRC has replaced the existing traffic central station system with a new system. In the existing traffic control system, since it was necessary to refer to plural screens in order to grasp the current situation, there has been the difference of countermeasures depending on experience of the controller. The new traffic central station system has centralized provides information such as accidents and information displayed on the road information board on the large display screen so that the situation of the whole route has become to be able to be immediately grasped. In addition, by adoption of the operation console with a touch-screen facilitates event registration, it has enabled a smooth road traffic control task regardless of the experience value of the controller. As a result, traffic central station system will enable to grasp the road conditions even with inexperienced controllers and provide information to road users accurately and quickly has been realized.

Development of Flood Crisis Management Water Level Gauges

- Technical papers -

In recent years, disasters such as western Japan torrential rain in 2018 and northern Kyushu torrential rain in 2017 caused the flooding of small and medium-sized rivers successively. The administrative agencies have launched a policy to expand the river monitoring system to small and medium-sized rivers with lessons learned from these flood disasters, which had previously been limited to important rivers such as class A or class B rivers. In order to reduce the installation and maintenance cost of the water level gauge to the small and medium-sized river which was a subject of this expansion policy, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has formulated the equipment specification "Measurement standards and specifications of flood crisis management water level gauges" which reduced equipment size and communication equipment cost by specializing in water level observation only at the time of flood. JRC has been promoting the development of devices based on this specification and the establishment of mass production system as soon as possible and starting to introduce it to the market in order from the time of the flood in 2018. Disaster prevention and disaster mitigation against flood disasters will be expected by the future deployment of this equipment.

The fully automatic toroidal winding machine in an in-vehicle coil

- Group Companies Technical papers -

NJRC has developed in 2009 an industry's first toroidal coil automatic winding machine which can cope with advanced QCD and large electric current in the automobile industry by integrating the coil winding technology, and the technology held over many years in the mechatronics business field since its foundation. In the coil industry at that time, it was considered impossible to perform automatic winding with a thick wire which can cope with a large electric current for a toroidal magnetic substance, and it was obliged to work on a labor-intensive type (winding by hand). However, the development and introduction of the automatic winding machine have brought about a major revolution to the production method of the toroidal coil. This machine was introduced, mass production of in-vehicle electric compressor coils was started, total 10 million products have been produced so far, zero defects are under continuation in the market, and the coil products produced by this machine are also highly evaluated by customers. This fully automatic toroidal winding machine has been developed to maximize the investment effect, to improve further the winding speed and to respond to the production of large coils such as xEV charger coils. Currently, the introduction of a newest machine which NJRC positions as the 3rd generation have been completed.

Development of Wireless equipment for medical use

- Group Companies Technical papers -

Since medical equipment has become more compact and medical cart has been miniaturized accordingly, it has become more difficult to mount all of the peripheral devices used for medical equipment in a medical cart as before. In connection with this, there has been an increasing need for placing medical equipment and peripheral devices in different locations and connecting them with radio. Therefore, UJRC has decided to develop wireless peripheral device for medical use. However, in order to realize this medical wireless peripheral device, it is necessary to comply with safety standards for medical electrical equipment as well as radio standards. The four types of wireless peripheral devices for medical use have been able to satisfy the safety standards of medical electrical equipment and the radio standards by combining know-how which UJRC has developed radio equipment and medical equipment until now.
