By JRC's Technology, the development of Wireless Broadband Communication System has been successfully achieved.

System downsizing and cost reduction have been set as the main targets in order to develop an attractive broadband wireless IP access system using 26 GHz band. To achieve these targets, JRC has cultivated a number of advanced technologies including the high-gain flat antenna for WT, the quasi-millimeter wave MMIC (monolithic microwave IC) and the ASIC as the dedicated baseband processor.

High-gain Flat Antenna for WT

To achieve a compact and lightweight WT and to ease the mass production, the waveguide slot array antenna is adopted, which has been devised by the group led by Professor Naohisa Goto, Takushoku University (Professor emeritus of Tokyo Institute of Technology) and Professor Makoto Ando of Tokyo Institute of Technology. 26GHz-band MMIC

The 26GHz-band up/down converter monolithic IC has been developed. The surface mounting of the MMIC has ensured substantial downsizing of the RF circuit and reduction of the manufacturing cost. Image:26GHz-band MMIC

Modem IC

· By applying of JRC’s silicon bipolar IC technology, the high-speed and highly accurate orthogonal modem has been developed.
· The modem IC also accommodates the function of receiving and transmitting gain variation within a wide dynamic range.

Baseband Processor ASIC

The ASIC dedicated to baseband processing has been developed as one chip including the following typical functions.

· High-speed burst modem to achieve the wireless transmission rate of 80Mbps (the A/D and D/A converters are included)
· Original MAC (Media Access Control) Function
· Robust Error Correction Function (Reed-Solomon Code)
· Encryption processing function to protect the user data
· Control function for subscriber terminal

Access Point


Omni-Type Antenna for Base Station

The omni-antenna having the pattern characteristics of non-directivity in horizontal plane and of the cosecant–curved directivity in vertical planes (upward and downward directions) has been developed. Horn-Type Antenna for Base Station

MAC LSI for Base Station

· MAC (Media Access Control) function capable of controlling the traffic of up to 239 WTs.
· Robust Error Correction function (Reed-Solomon Code)
· Encryption processing function to protect the user data
