Development of Broadband amplifier for 4GHz-band base station

- Special Issues : Communication Equipment -

For realizing the next generation radio communication system, it is essential to increase the bandwidth of the mobile communication base station equipment. However, to make the amplifier included in the mobile communication base station equipment wider bandwidth, there has been a problem that the high frequency characteristic including the out-of-band leakage power is considerably deteriorated in proportion. In order to solve the problem, JRC has developed a wideband transmitting amplifier which adopts wideband DPD distortion compensation technology. As a result, in the 4.46GHz band, JRC has achieved 120MHz which is twice the bandwidth compared with our conventional equipment with keeping ACLR of less than -45dBc and EVM of less than 8%.

Development of additional installation of GPS function to portable radio

- Special Issues : Communication Equipment -

In recent years, the transition from the conventional analog system to the digital system has progressed, and the demand for the data communication function to the land mobile radio has been increased. For this reason, it is becoming possible to realize advanced and convenient functions which could not be realized by the analog system. In such a situation, because there have been many customer demands for the installation of GPS function into portable radio equipment for location management and operation monitoring of the radios, JRC has developed a new portable radio with built-in GPS without changing the outside design from the current model. As the evaluation results of installed GPS performance, the specifications have been satisfied, and in the field test, the positioning accuracy has been confirmed to be superior to other manufacturers’ radios.

Software for Worker Equipment on Train Approach Warning System

- Special Issues : Communication Equipment -

A technique called "Track Circuit" which detects the train position existing on a railway by using a rail short circuit with wheels between the left and right rails has been used for a long time in railway. In a section with a track circuit, since a mechanism for warning train approach to workers under maintenance by utilizing information on train detection has been introduced, safety is being improved. However, in the section which does not have a "Track Circuit" between the stations, since the detection of the train position could only be roughly performed, the mechanism for warning the train approach to workers under maintenance was limited, therefore improvement of safety was a problem. In response to this problem, the GPS Train Approach Warning System which collects position information of trains and workers detected by GPS respectively in dedicated servers and accurately notify each worker terminal of the nearby train information will provide a safer work environment by warning to the workers about the train approach. This report will explain the functions and features of the application of the worker terminal which has been developed for the GPS Train Approach Warning System.

Development of Marine Radar JMR-5400 Series

- Technical papers -

The middle class radar introduced in this report is a radar for medium-sized fishing boats and work boats which realized miniaturization of processing unit and DC power supply based on JMR-9200/7200 series radars. Compared to the conventional middle class radar, JRC has realized “improvement of short distance performance”, “correspondence to C-MAP MAX chart and new pec”, “improvement of monitor visibility”, and “improvement of the easy usability” in the functional aspect. Particularly, in the radar signal processing, by fully utilizing the function of the ASIC adopted for the signal processing unit, the detection performance of the small target has been greatly improved. Moreover, by developing the “new tuning system” and the “thin antenna” in the newly developed antenna which uses the X-band 25 kW magnetron, the improvement of stability and reliability has been realized.

Development of IoT-PF to facilitate construction of IoT Cloud System

- Technical papers -

The systems that collect and provide data by combining sensor equipment and communications have been being introduced into various fields for some time. In many cases, the development and operating costs tend to be higher because it is necessary to invest in the infrastructure and secure the experts, due to the constraints of function and performance on devices and networks. By the spread of smartphones and the technological innovation for cloud computing in recent years, it has become possible to build the systems with a combination of things on the market but it is not easy to shorten the development period and reduce the cost. Therefore, JRC has developed a platform dedicated to IoT (IoT-PF) that executes real-time event processing in cooperation with applications with collecting and accumulating various sensor data from objects. By using the IoT-PF, IoT cloud systems can be built at low cost in a short period of time.

Development of RFLSI for Public safety radio.

- Technical papers -

JRC has been developing various types of public safety radio equipment. To reduce the size of equipment and improve development efficiency, a module combining the reference oscillator for PLL and the power supply together with the LSI integrating the RF part and the baseband part into one chip is used. In order to realize the low phase noise characteristic required for public safety radio equipment, the VCO for the local oscillator on the printed circuit board of the equipment mounts a different VCO for each use frequency band. In the future, for further miniaturization and cost reduction in response to the multiband design of public safety radio equipment, an RFLSI incorporating a broadband VCO which covers all the frequency bands of the equipment has been manufactured for trial. When the VCO is mounted in the LSI, broadband which covers all the frequency bands of the equipment with one VCO, improvement of Q of VCO coil and phase noise reduction of each block of the PLL are the problem to be solved. However, JRC has independently developed each subject and confirmed that it can realize the necessary low phase noise characteristics.
