Status of compliance with legal regulations at plants

Conditions within our company's plants are controlled by our voluntary standard values, which exceed the legal standard values.

The status of compliance with major legal criteria as of 2012 was as follows:

In addition, actual measurement values measured at "specified in-house locations and time" and complying with legal standards are entered as measurement values.

Soil pollution at the site of the demolished Saitama plant

Along with the closing of the Saitama plant (description of business: manufacturing of electronic valves, ICs, and other electronic devices), a circumstantial investigation into soil pollution at the site was implemented based on the Soil Contamination Countermeasures Act.

As a result, lead, one of materials subject to the investigation, with content surpassing the criterion, was detected from part of the soil at 11 of 412 points at the site.

The necessary measures will be promoted in future in line with guidance of the local municipality.

Material Number of points surpassing the criterion/Number of points of investigation Extent to which criterion exceeded Depth of surpassing the criterion Criterion
Lead (content) 11/412
(11 unit divisions)
220 to 4,500 mg/kg
(1.5 to 30 times the criterion)
Surface layer (10 points)
Surface layer and 2 m (one point)

* Materials investigated other than lead (content) and lead (elution amount) passed the criteria.
* Unit division: 10m×10m(100m²)
