Objectives and targets of environmental activities

1. Design environmental conscious product
To raise the application rate of environmental conscious products (products in compliance to the Type II environmental label) to 90% or higher by 2008, except for those for which it is not applicable based on customers' requests.

2. To reduce the use of harmful materials (materials to which RoHS is applicable)
RoHS shall apply to all shipped products by September 2008, except those products to which RoHS is not applied based on customers' requests.

3. Promote green procurement
For the procurement of all materials, parts, devices and products that comprise the shipped products, we will comply with the rules applicable to banned substances in the "Green Procurement Guideline" published by us by fiscal 2008. However, this excludes those to which it does not apply based on customers' requests.

4. Promote measures to prevent global warming
Reduce energy consumption (expressed as carbon dioxide from power generation, gas, crude oil) on a production value unit base to the level of fiscal 1990 (0.122 tons/million yen) by 2010.

5. Improve the recycling rate
Improve the recycling rate of waste products to greater than 90% by 2010.

6. Reduce the volume of permanent disposal of waste
Reduce the volume of permanent disposal of waste products generated by the Company's facilities on a production value unit base to less than 60% of fiscal 1996 levels by 2010.

7. Comply with laws and regulations related to the environment and other social demands
Comply with criterion values in the laws and customer demand.

* RoHS (Restriction of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment) European regulations to prohibit the use of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, and two poorly combustible materials (PBB and PBDE) in electrical and electronic equipment after July 1, 2006.
