(1)Promotion of lead-free soldering
1. Production sections shall consider introduction of the facilities they need to manufacture lead-free soldered products.
2. Technical sections shall establish a master schedule for lead-free soldering of all product types.

(2)Reduction of substances specified by RoHS Directive
1. To investigate parts in which lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, and/or PBB and PBDE are used, their contents and alternatives.
2. To establish a master schedule for reduction of target substances.

(3)Reduction of specified chemical substances
To reduce amount of use of one or more chemical substances to be reported as specified under the provisions of the PRTR Law, Ordinance of Tokyo Municipal Government on Assurance of Environments, and/or Ordinance of Saitama Prefecture Government on Conservation of Living Environments by 10% or more from the preceding year.

Proper management of chemical substances in 2003

Actions are being taken by individual sections to promote lead-free soldering and compliance with RoHS Directive in accordance with the overall company schedule.

Measures are being taken to establish facilities that enable lead-free soldering and the appropriate production conditions.

We will strengthen the organization and activities on an ongoing basis.

Goals of proper management of chemical substances in 2004

(1) Promotion of lead-free soldering
  • Manufacturing sections shall establish an organization to put lead-free soldering into practice.
  • Technical sections shall advance application of lead-free soldering to products specified in RoHS.
(2) Reduction of substances covered by RoHS Directive
  • To continue investigation on parts in which lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, and/or PBB and PBDE are used, their contents and alternatives.
  • To totally withdraw use of the six substances specified in the RoHS Directive from products for which an immediate response is mandated (products selected as those to which the RoHS Directive was to be applied in the preceding year).
